John Lutz via Zoom
Considered to be one of Leo Tolstoy’s masterpieces, War and Peace provides a panoramic view of Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812 while focusing more specifically on the fortunes of individuals from three aristocratic families. Tolstoy depicts the fate of peasants and nobility as well as civilians and soldiers and makes use of their struggles to engage with some of the most vexing historical and philosophical questions of his era.
