This is it! Casablanca is called the most romantic film of all time, with a love triangle and angry Nazis - are there any other kind? - as backdrop. This film cemented Humphrey Bogart as a tough and sexy leading man, and the superstar of his day. With Ingrid Bergman and a superb supporting cast, this Warner Brothers film is one of the outstanding films from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Before screening film highlights, we will examine the backstory behind the film and talk about why this was such a rousing WWII hit. Partly due to the great acting, world events taking place during the filmmaking, Michael Curtiz’s great direction and partly because many of the supporting cast who actually fled Nazi persecution in Europe, this is a film you won’t soon forget. In addition, you will also learn of the film's surprisingly very Jewish background.
