478. The “ROMANTIC TRINITY”: BYRON, SHELLEY, AND KEATS

This class will explore the poetry of the most famous trio of second generation British Romantic poets, Lord Byron, Percy B. Shelley, and John Keats. We will examine the major themes of these celebrated nineteenth century poets that link them together and explore their enduring influence on the Western literary canon. Readings will be provided in advance of the first class and no book purchases will be necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: If you want to make a day of it and take the literature class following Professor’s Simone class at 1:00, be sure to visit The Museum Café, open 12-4pm, Tuesday to Sunday. The café offers a selection of food and beverages, including coffee, tea, cold drinks, and other snacks.
ABOUT THE LECTURER
Diane Simone holds two master’s degrees, one in English and another in Social Work. She is also an accomplished poet in her own right, winner of a number of awards, and has taught English at the university level for a number of years. Her major areas of interest are the Romantic poets and the Moderns, whose works she has studied extensively.
