Larry Wolff
Come learn about how the real-life Marx Brothers overcame poverty in New York City, endured grueling vaudeville tours, and finally rose to Broadway fame, while continuing upward as stars of radio, film, and television. The world has never seen anything like THESE guys and never will again! As funny as they are on the screen, they were even wilder in real life. Very different off screen, they jelled like no other brother act in history in creating mayhem and belly laughs for all. While the brothers were popular for over 30 years, making movies that were celebrated for their attacks on the socially respectable and ordered society in general, their political satire, Duck Soup, is regarded today as one of the great comedies of the 1930s. Groucho, with his ability to deliver wisecracks and non sequiturs at a dizzying pace, is still quoted and imitated even now! Join us for this rousing session, and don’t worry, Zeppo is included, too, as are film highlights from some of their most memorable films.
