Lawrence Wolff

Please join Professor Larry Wolff as he presents a discussion of the heartwarming Christmas classic, Miracle on 34th Street. Some history surrounding the making of this film will include the complete background story of how it was shot using real New York locations and events, including the actual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. If you don’t believe in Santa, you’ll certainly want to after taking a look back at this film.

Such greats as Edmund Gwenn, Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, and Gene Lockhart, along with a wonderful supporting cast, helped to make this timeless black and white film the classic that it has become. Find out why some of the stars, however, did not even want to make the film in the first place – but thankfully, in the end they were certainly happy they did. And, believe it or not, when first released, Miracle wasn’t even advertised as a Christmas film.

Join us for special highlights from significant scenes, as well as some memorabilia, a book, and an autograph display for you to view either before or after the class.  You may also be surprised to learn during this session that Miracle has a rare tie to Long Island, and how that tie still exists today!

He has been The Grand Sheik (President) of the Long Island chapter of the Sons of the Desert (the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society) for over ten years and is a contributor to the New York and national Abbott and Costello Fan Clubs.
