528. L’ENFANT

This small 2005 film by Belgian filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, known as the Dardenne Brothers, won the coveted Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and nine other awards. Starring Dardennes' regular Jérémie Renier as a young, struggling father who makes a drastic mistake when his wife is delivered of a child, the film is shot in their signature no-frills style that disguises a rigorous but often invisible artistry that places them among the greatest living filmmakers.
