Enjoy this PowerPoint presentation via Zoom from the comfort of your own home as you learn about Charlie Chaplin’s life and how he still influences comedy today. You will experience some of “The Little Tramp’s” most entertaining work and learn about the world’s most famous and recognizable comedian’s rise from the depths of poverty in England to world-wide renown with his character “The Little Tramp”; you will also hear about his later self-imposed exile to Switzerland in 1952, after he was targeted and made the object of propaganda and lies during the McCarthy era.

Some of his personal tragedies and his career decline might have been avoided, but when Chaplin went into exile, he claimed that he could not remain in a place where liberal-minded individuals were singled out and persecuted. However, despite all his troubles, Charlie left his indelible mark on comedy and is still making an impact today. Whether he was pulling at your heart strings or going for laughs, Chaplin was indeed the “King,” so join us to learn more about this fascinating individual and experience some of “The Tramp’s” most entertaining work!

Note: A Zoom Link will be sent to you at least one day prior to the first day of class and again on a weekly basis prior to each successive class if there is more than one session.
