This unusual and seldom-seen film by French documentarian Nicolas Philibert has a very simple objective: to show us day-to-day life behind the scenes at the Louvre. Art movers, restorers, curators, conservators, security guards—we see the Louvre as part of their work day rather than as visitors. As Leslie Camhi said in the New York Times: "The works of art, revealed in a new context, come alive as fragile and exotic creatures captured in a web of human labor."
