Lawrence Wolff

From 1955-1991, Benny Hill had his own show and starred in it. As an expert at all types of comedy - farce, physical, verbal and puns – he entertained the audiences of that day, and his influence can still be felt today. The saucy English comedian that we remember from television, began as a shy man with a stage act that needed much work. Afraid of hostile audiences, he turned to television and eventually became a world-famous clown who was loved by millions in 140 countries! But what was he like when not entertaining? Who was that little Irish fellow Benny repeatedly tapped on the head? Did Benny ever marry? Did he spend his fortune on extravagances? Why was his immensely popular show cancelled? Find the answers to all these questions and more in Professor Wolff’s PowerPoint presentation which traces Benny Hill’s life and career. You’ll also be shown some of his most hilarious sketches, which just might make you laugh yourself silly!
