Often voted as one of the greatest films of all time, it's the story of Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) and his complex relationship with Annie Hall (Diane Keaton). Told in an innovative style that includes Allen breaking the 4th wall and directly addressing the camera, the film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay, as well as a Golden Globe for Keaton and five key BAFTA Awards. Despite its great success, Allen was never entirely satisfied with the movie, but Keaton regarded Annie Hall as the favorite of all her roles. When the costumer complained about Keaton's choice for what became the Annie Hall Look, Allen said: "She's a genius. Just leave her alone. Let her wear what she wants." The film also features memorable performances by Christopher Walken, Carol Kane, Tony Roberts, Colleen Dewhurst, Shelley Duval, and a guest appearance by Marshall McLuhan. A lively discussion will follow the screening.
